Important Documents(Place all important papers, documents, valuables, pictures in designated boxes as soon as you decide to move).  These are items you will bring with you and should not be transported by movers.

  • Insurance Papers
  • Birth/Marriage Certificates
  • Financial Information
  • Tax Documents
  • Wills/Powers of Attorney
  • Health Documents
  • Pictures
  • Jewlery
  • Other important information or items that could not be replaced or difficult to replace

Discontinue Old Residence  & Connect New Residence (Timely to the move-out and move-in dates as applicable)

  • Gas
  • Water
  • Electricity
  • Telephone (maybe you can retain the same #)
  • Garbage Collection (depending on your location)
  • Cable/Internet Service Provider/Television
  • Newspaper/Publication delivery

Who Needs to Know?

  • Relatives, friends and regular correspondents
  • Post Office (to redirect mail remember they will only do this for a period of time.  Confirm this with them)
  • Financial institutions (to transfer and/or close accounts)
  • Department of Taxation
  • Leasing Company (to transfer or terminate household insurance)
  • Car, Health, House  Insurance
  • Shops and stores where you have charge accounts
  • Club Memberships
  • Magazines and subscriptions
  • Doctor(s) and Dentist (to obtain copies of your records)
  • Lawyer

Dangerous Goods?

Some goods that are classified as dangerous cannot be transported by movers or placed in storage facilites.  Know what they are and move them with care.  If in doubt check with your movers.

  • Ammunition
  • Paint
  • Bleach Products
  • Gas cylinders, turpentine
  • Aerosols (any kind)
  • Chemical Sets
  • Kerosene
  • Propane
  • All flammable products
